NMLS Approved SAFE Act Classes offered to CMLA Members
With the SAFE Act licensing deadline quickly approaching, CMLA has aligned with the Mortgage Training Institute to provide SAFE education and Exam Preparation courses for CMLA members. You can take courses online or in the classroom.
Mortgage Training Institute is one of the only NMLS approved education providers in Colorado and is the only approved Colorado based provider provider number 1400044. MTI was the largest in-state eduction provider for the Colorado Mortgage Broker License training and had one of the highest state exam passing percentages, with over 80% of their students passing the exam on the first attempt. Considering the difficulty of the NMLS exam, this track record is very important.
We suggest you do this training as soon as possible so you can take the required exams. The July 31st deadline for Colorado mortgage loan originators and contract processors is quickly approaching.
To participate in the course you will need a computer connected to the Internet and a telephone or microphone and speakers
This course is NMLS-approved and will satisfy the 20 hours of pre-licensing education required by the S.A.F.E. Act (Course ID: 1135). With registration of this course you will also receive the National Online Test Preparation package, at no cost, to assist you in passing the National Mortgage Loan Originator Examination.
Successfully completing this course will credit you the 20 hours of required education and may be applied to all states that require the 20 hours of study. Some states may require additional education, for these please see our state-specific courses.

3 hours of Federal Law
3 hours of Ethics, Fraud and Consumer Protection
2 hours of Non-Traditional Mortgage Products
12 hours of Electives - General Mortgage Knowledge
The classroom equivalent course will be conducted online with the instructor and will be covered over five, four-hour sessions. You must complete all five sessions for successful completion.
